Alex Angelov
Founding Partner
Alex is currently a Partner at Calistix Capital and is also the Managing Director of Bagwell Supply Ltd, a Calistix portfolio company, and one of Canada’s premiere suppliers of bulk bags & packaging solutions. He is responsible for managing Bagwell’s day-to-day operations as well as leading its long-term strategic initiatives. Alex recently led the expansion of Bagwell into Ontario, with the opening of a brand-new sales office and warehouse in Mississauga, ON.
Prior to founding Calistix Capital, Alex worked at Onex Corporation, Canada’s largest private equity firm. At Onex, he was responsible for evaluating and conducting due diligence on new investment opportunities. Alex evaluated successful businesses and worked with accomplished operators in a variety of industries including business services, industrials, healthcare, aerospace/defense and retail. Alex began his career as an investment banker in the Financial Restructuring Group of Houlihan Lokey, the world’s largest restructuring advisor, where he advised companies and stakeholders in distressed situations on strategic and financing alternatives. Through his engagements at Houlihan Lokey, Alex developed experience in distressed M&A as well as capital restructurings.
Alex holds an Honours Business Administration degree (with Distinction, Ivey Scholar) from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. While at university, he was co-president of the Western Investment Club and was an author for the Ivey Business Review and the Economic Students’ Association. Alex grew up in the Toronto area but was born in Bulgaria and has also lived in South Africa and the United States. In his spare time, Alex enjoys playing soccer, golf, and volleyball. He is also a calisthenics enthusiast focused on bodyweight training and functional fitness.
